State of Illinois Residential facility supports and services
for people with developmental disabilities. This is the original site of
Leslie Keeley Company, and the Livingston Hotel. Art glass windows, by Louis
J. Millet can be seen above the main entrance, each window signifying one of

The Country Mansion
The original structure was built as a boarding house in
1891. Used as a private home until 1928 and then given to the Keeley
Company, and renamed The Lodge. On September 23, 1980 the home was placed on
"The National Register of Historic Places."

Dwight Public Library
Built in 1896 as a carriage house where it housed prize
cattle and horses for the Oughton Estate, it was later transformed into a
treatment and recreation building for the Keeley Company. In 1989, the
Oughtons donated the building to the Library District. Today it is the home
for the Prairie Creek District Library. In the background you can see the
windmill which was built in 1896 to supply water for the Oughton Estate and
grounds.

Pioneer Gothic Church
On the National Registry of Historic Places, this is the
first church built in Dwight in 1857 by the Presbyterian congregation.
Prince Edward of Wales attended church at this site in 1860 while here in
Dwight on a hunting expedition for wild birds. Presently, it is property of
Dwight Township.

Dwight Correctional Center
Dwight Correctional Center was constructed in 1929 as a
state reformatory for women. Originally named Oakdale, the Dwight
Correctional Center received its present day name in 1973. Tours are
available by appointment only.

Dwight Windmill
The Windmill was built in 1896 to supply water to the
Oughton Estate and grounds. The Windmill is now owned by the Village of
Dwight. The Windmill is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Old Route 66
Built in the 1920's, Route 66, also known as "The Mother
Road" brought many people through Dwight on their way West looking for a
more prosperous life. The road has evolved over the years to today's
Interstate 55 undergoing four different route changes through Dwight.
First National Bank
Architect Frank Lloyd
Wright engineered the building of this bank in 1905 and is the only one of
the three banks he designed still standing. It was expanded in 1970 and
again in 1989. The general structure has not changed and the original
woodwork has been kept intact.

Bank of Dwight
The Bank of Dwight is the oldest Business institution in
the village chartered in 1855. It remains the oldest state operating under
its original charter. It is a Greek classic design and was remodeled in 1974
to expand to the adjacent building. An original mural painted by Viennese
artist Oskar Gross is displayed on the dome in the bank.
